Religion 

Most people in Peru are Catholics (89%). The Catholic religion was not in Peru until the Spanish explorers arrived and taught that religion to the people already living there.

Some people are Evangelical Christians (7%).

Some people (2.5%), especially the native communities of the Andes and the Amazon, have kept the religion of their ancestors.
